Laminate floors are extremely hard wearing and therefore very easy to maintain. It is however, advisable to protect the surface of the floor from some of the wear and tear of everyday life to keep it looking fantastic for many years to come.

Felt pads should be placed under all furniture (castors where applicable), this will stop heavy items scratching the surface. Minor scratches may be able to be buffed out, but deeper scratches can’t be covered up and you can’t sand laminate flooring, as opposed to solid wood flooring and engineered flooring. If you’re planning to move furniture, or other heavy items, around the room you should definitely pick it up, not drag it, this also applies to solid wood flooring and engineered wood flooring.
Heavy duty door mats should be on the outside and inside of every external door to prevent excess moisture getting to floor, and also small stones, which may be trapped in a persons shoes tread, from scratching the laminate floor’s top layer.
The recommended cleaning methods are :
Vacuum cleaning
Sweeping Brush
Dry mop
Damp mop
Swiffer
The cleaning should be carried out using as little moisture as possible avoiding unnecessary contamination of the floor.
Spillages should be wiped up as soon as possible, especially from things like red wine.

As long as you follow these guidelines your laminate flooring will look great for many years. Remember, although the top layer of laminate flooring is extremely durable, it can be damaged and it’s always best to use caution to protect your investment.
