Those nice hardwood floors are beautiful but maintaining and keeping them looking good can be a bit tricky. However, it can definitely be done with a few instructions to keep them at their peak of perfection.
1. Sweep, Sweep, and Sweep Some More – This is the main thing and is usually not taken serious. Being that there are dust particles that fall from your heating and cooling vents and there is dirt from all of the foot traffic, it is so important to sweep on a daily basis. This will remove the dirt right away which can cause your wood floors to scratch.
2. Moping Once a Week – Although you will be sweeping your floors throughout the week, it is a good idea to have your wood floors mopped. The reason for this is because sometimes we step on certain food that was spilled on the floor. Once you step on it is usually stuck down on the floor and is harder to remove when sweeping. Mopping with a specific wood cleaner is the trick. Water will have your wood lifting and swelling, so you will want to invest in a good hardwood floor cleaner. These can be found at your regular discount stores like Target and such.
3. Place Rugs in Common Areas- Placing a rug in the areas where there is a ton of foot traffic is a preventative measure that you can take. You can place them in the entry ways and in other areas in your home that you know people are back and forth in. moreover, you can also place rugs in your bathrooms and in your kitchen since those are two areas in the home where you will be using water. This will help from getting water spilled on the floor and will decrease your wood floors from swelling.
These are all methods that are not too hard to follow and will help you in keeping your wood floors looking marvelous. All to often people get lost on how to clean wood floors, but it does not have to be that hard for you.
