It seems like most manufacturers are most concerned about cutting costs but it seems there are some environmentally responsible manufacturers who believe cost cutting shouldn’t come at the expense of our natural resources. In many cases, the investment in sustainable processes have not only cut waste but costs as well.
Our natural resources are a big component in many manufacturing processes and the preservation of these resources is becoming a bigger focus for many mid-size to large organizations. By adopting sustainability patterns, a resource is not consumed without a commensurate replacement. Those manufacturers who are developing eco friendly flooring are utilizing less natural resources, producing less waste and creating a products such as laminate wood flooring that looks just like the real thing.
Nature provides a good example of sustainability patterns, that we call eco-systems. These little systems create an equilibrium between life an death. The sun, the air, the water, the plants and the animals all make up a complex system that not only promotes life, but also fosters decay. Decay and death are an inevitability, but necessary for new life to begin and continue.
Manufacturers for many years were more responsible for the death and decay of our natural resources rather than finding ways to create and replenish them. Some patterns that manufacturers are adopting include developing technologies and techniques to use less, waste less and replenish our natural resources.
Wood laminate flooring is a favorable alternative to real wood flooring because it avoids using wood all together. In cases where manufactures produce eco friendly wood flooring, the flooring is engineered to use less wood than solid wood flooring and the sawdust and bark that normally went to waste are being used to develop a strong core material that is resistant to warping and splitting. The elimination of waste not only protects the environment and our natural resources, but it also cuts costs, which is what most businesses are striving to do.
Lastly, the sustainability pattern wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t talk about replenishment. To take and take and not give back, leaves a mark. The effects are initially slow to develop but they will grow exponentially to the point where it may be too late for human action to have any bearing. Nature may have to take over and wipe out much of humanity in order to preserve itself and bring the world back into equilibrium. Gratefully, there are manufacturers who see the need replenish what they take. Many of them own or contract with land owners to harvest trees and then to reforest them. Efforts to replenish our natural resources will ensure a longer and happier existence for all humanity.
